A magistrate’s house from 1675, restored and open as a museum — the one building on every tour route that the tours themselves do not enter.
Jonathan Corwin was one of the magistrates who examined the accused in 1692. He bought the house in 1675 and his family held it for close to a century.
Nothing happened inside it that the trials record calls a trial: the examinations were held elsewhere. What the house gives you is the interior a magistrate of that year actually lived in.
It is the one stop that almost every walking tour passes and almost none goes into — the guides stop on the pavement outside, because the tours are outdoor activities and the house sells its own ticket.
